Tulum, the destination influencers, celebs, and even my friends can’t stop raving over.
I was scrolling through instagram and saw an old acquaintance got married. Her pictures were like those that you find in a magazine. Everyone was looking beautiful, tan (golden tan), the background with the super light blue waters.
First thing i thought I wish I was a guest at that wedding.
Everyone posted stories in these fancy beaches, amazing restaurants and dancing at some cool hippie looking bars.
I had to know more.
They were of course in Tulum, Mexico. Where all the trendy people go now. I called one of my friends that went and she told me ALL about it. She couldn’t stop talking bragging of how much fun she had at this hidden paradise.
The first thing that came to my mind was… this is definitely my next vacation spot, so I asked what her favorite things to do were and this is what she told me:
-
Dance
The pandemic transformed Tulum into what many call, the winter Ibiza. In January, Tulum plays host to a “festival season” where the world top house, tech house, techno DJs rock the beaches and the jungle while thousands dance the day and night away.
You will see people from all over the world; South America, North American, or Europe. Colored with all types of people from the rich tech moguls, to professional athletes, or super models. It has quickly become the hot spot of the planet.
-
Beaches
Tulum is home to the most picturesque and beautiful beaches in the entire world. Unlike touristy beaches like Cancun, being just a few hours away, full of tourists and chain restaurants and people trying to sell you plans left and right.
This getaway offers the exact opposite. It is TRULY getting away . You have countless options to relax and explore around this hippie-chic mexican paradise.
-
Cenotes
A cenote is like a swimming pool that was formed under a limestone that once collapsed.
These are all over the place, you can even find one and have it all to yourself. It’s like taking a dip into your own personal natural pool.
You can check out El Gran Cenote or Dos Ojos Cenote being one of the longest underwater cave systems in the world.
-
Mayan Ruins
Before tourists came along there just so happens that there was a settlement in Tulum. And what do you know? Now, it’s a sight to see.
The Mayan seaport can still be looked at as it is on the cliff overlooking these pearly white sandy beaches.
-
Wine and Dine
Eating great food at any vacation is a must ! It changes your experience completely.
What’s awesome about this place is that they really take into account all of us who want to dine healthy. Eating healthy can be delicious, but most restaurants give little to no options and they are usually not amazing.
Here they really value health and offer some amazing dining destinations. Co.ConAmor is a vegan restaurant that offers seriously good guacamole and soba noodles.
If you have a sophisticated palate, you have come to the right place.
-
Yoga
Since Tulum values well being and ACTUALLY disconnecting they offer yoga retreats that stars and celebs rave about.
Many of the hotels or boutiques offer amazing classes in beautiful sceneries like the actual beach or even on water.
-
Getting in touch with nature
Part of getting away, truly away, is getting more in touch with the earth you live in. It helps care more about your planet and it gives you the breath of fresh air you need to get on your horse once you get back home.
You can go snorkeling and see beautiful turtles or check out the wildlife in the forests. There are tons of nature friendly places to go.
So there you have it, what would you do first ?
Happy travels.
