DAY #1 - Wilson Airport, Kenya - andBeyond Bateleur Camp
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by an andBeyond representative and assisted onto your transfer to Wilson Airport for your scheduled SafariLink flight to Kichwa Airstrip. On arrival at the airstrip, you will be met by a representative from andBeyond Bateleur Camp and transferred to the lodge. Blessed with an astounding year-round concentration of animals and the climax of the Great Migration, Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve provides an unsurpassed wildlife experience. Covering an area of 1 510 km2, the Masai Mara is a land of breathtaking vistas, abundant wildlife, and endless plains. The Reserve is a photographer’s and naturalist’s paradise with abundant elephant, buffalo, giraffe, lion and cheetah alongside the migratory wildebeest and zebra. Leopards are frequently encountered, endangered black rhino find retreat in dense thickets, and large rafts of hippo and enormous crocodiles are found in the Mara River. The Mara is also home to over 450 bird species. Situated in the andBeyond Kichwa Tembo Private Concession, which neighbours the Masai Mara, andBeyond Bateleur Camp offers world-class accommodation in the African bush. Depart the Masai Mara on your scheduled SafariLink flight to Wilson Airport, for your scheduled flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport. On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you will depart on your scheduled flight to Manyara airstrip where you will be met by a representative from andBeyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge who will transfer you by game drive to the lodge. Lake Manyara National Park in Tanzania offers a wilderness experience in diverse habitats, from its Rift Valley soda lake to dense woodlands and steep mountainsides. Here, the Great Rift Valley is at its most impressive, with the escarpment dropping some 500 metres down to the lakeshore. Apart from a spectacular setting, the park is famous for its unusual tree-climbing lions and the vast elephant herds it was established to protect. The shores of the lake, encrusted with pink flamingo, attract more than 400 species of birds, many of them waterfowl or migrants. Large herds of buffalo, cheetah, Masai giraffe and impala roam the lake shores and the forested valley slopes. Troops of several hundred olive baboon appear alongside Sykes monkey and short-eared galago. Cape clawless otter, Egyptian mongoose, hippo and klipspringer are other park residents. Spend two nights at andBeyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge in a tree house. Your stay includes accommodation, meals, scheduled activities, laundry, soft drinks, house wines, and local brand spirits. DAY #6 - Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, Tanzania - andBeyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge - Non-Renewal (2021)
Depart on your road transfer to Manyara Airstrip where you will be met by a representative from andBeyond Ngrorongoro Crater Lodge and transferred to the lodge. The Ngorongoro Crater in Northern Tanzania, once a gigantic volcano, is the largest intact caldera in the world. Some maintain that before it erupted, it would have been higher than Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. Today, long since having collapsed and eroded, it is an extensive highland area with the famous 600 m deep Ngorongoro Crater as its focal point. Nearly three million years old, the ancient caldera shelters one of the most beautiful wildlife havens on earth. Endangered black rhino are protected within its rim, giant tusked elephants wander the forests, black-maned lions stalk the grasslands, and flamingoes crowd the soda lakes. An estimated 25 000 large mammals are resident in this bowl of plenty, including a population of approximately 6 000 resident wildebeest, 16 highly endangered black rhino and around 70 lions. Serengeti National Park boasts 35 species of plains-dwelling game and prolific birdlife. andBeyond Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp is set in the remote western reaches of the Park, on a bywater of the Grumeti River, known for its wildebeest crossings and enormous Nile crocodiles. Tucked into a strip of riverine forest, guests thrill to the antics of resident hippo and spectacular pied colobus monkeys (found nowhere else in the Serengeti).
