Trip Itinerary

DAY #1 - Saanen, Switzerland Hotel Le Grand Chalet
Your DuVine guides will greet you in Aigle for a transfer to L’Etivaz, where our tour begins. L’Etivaz is famous for its eponymous cheese, so we’re treated to a tasting with a local cheesemaker before a light lunch. Fueled for our first ride, we’ll spin beside the banks of the Sarine River through Rougemont and Saanen. Pedal past plenty of Switzerland’s emblematic wooden chalets all the way to the car-free town of Gstaad. Tonight, we tuck into sophisticated Swiss fare in the hotel’s cozy restaurant.

Accomplished: 16 miles / 26 km, elevation gain: 1,312 feet / 400 meters

Longer Option: 18 miles / 29 km, elevation gain: 2,555 feet / 779 meters
DAY #2 - Interlaken, Switzerland VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU Grand Hotel & Spa
After a classic Swiss breakfast, it’s time to depart Gstaad and cruise on a mix of asphalt and gravel roads through the Simmental Valley, an Alpine landscape in the Bernese Oberland. We’ll be pausing along the way to taste the chocolate that has earned Switzerland its confectionary repute. Our route snakes along the scenic Simme river to Lake Thun, where we stop for lunch on the shores. Afterwards, keep on riding to our hotel or opt for a boat ride all the way to Interlaken. We’ll reconvene for a fine dining experience at the hotel’s bright and elegant restaurant.

Accomplished: 32 miles / 51 km, elevation gain: 2,591 feet / 790 meters

Longer Option: 48 miles / 77 km, elevation gain: 3,001 feet / 915 meters
DAY #3 - Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU Grand Hotel & Spa
Encircled by the iconic mountains Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, Interlaken is a playground for outdoor pursuits. Today, our own adventure takes us to the Lauterbrunnen Valley. We’ll ride to the famous Trümmelbach Falls which drain over 20,000 liters of water every second, then continue to the end of the valley for lunch. This afternoon, choose to go paragliding over the Alpine peaks for an additional fee, participate in the beloved Swiss pastime of hiking, or take advantage of the world-class spa at our hotel. Tonight, dine on your own back in Interlaken—we recommend seeking out some Swiss cheese fondue.

Accomplished: 26 miles / 42 km, elevation gain: 1,574 feet / 480 meters; 4 miles / 6 km hiking
DAY #4 - Lucerne, Switzerland Hotel Montana
Today’s ride begins with a bang as we climb the Brünig Pass high above Lake Brienz. Pause at the summit to pat yourself on the back and relish the stunning views, then take off on a long downhill through orchards all the way to our lunch stop. Our ride ends in the lakeside city of Lucerne, nestled beneath a mountainous panorama dominated by the massif Pilatus. Take a pre-dinner stroll to Chapel Bridge, one of the oldest wooden bridges in Europe, then dine at a charming restaurant in town. Accomplished: 36 miles / 58 km, elevation gain: 2,132 feet / 650 meters
DAY #5 - Lucerne, Switzerland Hotel Montana
Spend the day cycling the Lake Lucerne region on a route that takes us above and around the water, into fragrant apple orchards, and across rolling hills until we reach our lunch spot right on the shore—we may even have time for a swim! The afternoon is yours to explore historic Lucerne, perhaps visiting the chocolate museum, people watching in an old city square, or peering into the windows of watch shops. Our farewell dinner will be an evening to remember at our hotel restaurant, where the views are truly magical.

Accomplished: 27 miles / 43 km, elevation gain: 2,460 feet / 750 meters

Longer Option: 40 miles / 64 km, elevation gain: 3,182 feet / 970 meters
