DAY #1 - Maun, Botswana
This adventure safari begins at our lodge called Pelo which is an intimate, unpretentious water-based lodge. Fittingly, Pelo means ‘heart’ in Setswana as, from the air, the island on which this beautiful lodge is situated, appears heart-shaped.
DAY #2 - Okavango Delta, Botswana
As Pelo is surrounded by permanent water, activities focus on Mekoro (dug out canoe) excursions in the open shallow floodplains. There is nothing quite as tranquil as floating through the Okavango channels. Pelo Lodge is an excellent example of a light-footprint lodge operating on 100% solar power.
DAY #3 - Okavango Delta, Botswana
On your last day at Pelo, enjoy an exhilarating helicopter flight which allows one to see the true scope of the Delta. A guided afternoon walk completes this part of your Okavango experience.
DAY #4 - Okavango Delta, Botswana
After the morning activity, your guide will escort you to Little Vumbura which is situated on a wooded island, accessible only by boat. Water based activities are again a focus with Mekoro and barge trips available. Wildlife viewing and birding is consistently good all year round via game drives and guided walks.
DAY #5 - Okavango Delta, Botswana
Is there a more exciting way to see the delta from the air than gliding in a hot air balloon? Little Vumbura offers this seasonal, adventurous, not to be missed, activity! What an exhilarating way to start your day!
DAY #6 - Okavango Delta, Botswana
Continue this incredible journey to Qorokwe – which means “the place where the buffalo broke through the bush to the water” and is evocative of the high density game area in which it is situated. Exploring Qorokwe reveals a world of diverse Delta habitats supporting a wealth of wildlife, earning the area’s well-deserved reputation as a top Botswana safari destination
DAY #7 - Okavango Delta, Botswana
The magnificent main area is the focal point of the camp and overlooks a lagoon. The dining area, lounge, library and bar are built on raised wooden platforms, all connected by walkways.
Highlights of Qorokwe’s dining experiences include festive boma evenings or enjoy a romantic private dining experience at the infinity pool.
DAY #8 - Maun, Botswana
On your final day in the Delta, take the opportunity of one last game drive and enjoy spotting several of the larger predators – lion, leopard, spotted hyaena, cheetah and wild dog. Elephant herds are also a regular features in this classic Okavango Delta setting.
From here, it is a short journey to Maun and onward travel arrangements.
