DAY #1 - Flinders Ranges, Australia Black’s Gap Camp
Make your own way by road to the Flinders Ranges and meet your walking guide for an informative briefing. Set off on the first leg of your journey covering approximately 12km across the interior of magnificent Wilpena Pound before the brief ascent to the rim of this natural mountain amphitheatre. Enter the Arkaba Wilderness and walk in to camp in the late afternoon. Your guide and camp assistant will prepare a three-course alfresco camp dinner. Settle into your deluxe swag and enjoy a night under a canopy of stars (Approx.12km, 4–5 hours).
DAY #2 - Flinders Ranges, Australia Elder Camp
Today’s route is varied according to your fitness and interests, and reveals rolling hills and open vistas. The first 2km of the hike will follow the famous Heysen Trail through Black’s Gap. Red and grey kangaroos and emus are regularly sighted. The last leg takes you into the hills and up to the base of the Elder Range amid graceful stands of native cypress pine trees. Arrive at camp around 5.30pm in time for a hot shower, three-course dinner and another beautiful night under the stars (Approx.10–14km, 6–7 hours).
DAY #3 - Flinders Ranges, Australia Arkaba Homestead
Wake to the glorious morning light on the Elder Range. The pace is unhurried, with plenty of time to stop for photographs, bird watching, botanising and discussion. Arrive at your final destination – Arkaba Homestead – early to mid-afternoon. This is the quintessential Australian outback experience with your evening spent in the elegant 1850s homestead enjoying a beautifully-prepared meal and some excellent South Australian wines. Retire to the comfort of your homestead bedroom and your final night in the bush (Approx.8–12km, 6–7 hours).
DAY #4 - Kangaroo Island, Australia Flinders Ranges, Australia Southern Ocean Lodge
Depart from Hawker on your charter flight to Kangaroo Island. DAY #5 - Kangaroo Island, Australia Southern Ocean Lodge
Today is at leisure to enjoy the many touring options on the island. You day may include the Wonders of KI with a visit to Cape du Couedic, Remarkable Rocks and the seal colony. Late this afternoon enjoy canapes with the kangaroos and observe them in their natural environment whilst sipping premium South Australian wines.
DAY #6 - Kangaroo Island, Australia Adelaide, Australia
Today you will be transferred to Kingscote for your departing flight.
