DAY #1 - Maun, Botswana
You will depart Maun airport with Wilderness Air flying south to the Kalahari Plains Lodge which lies in a remote corner of the Central Kalahari Reserve. This reserve is famed for vast herd of antelope, followed by abundant predators. Summer rainfall (November through March) briefly changes the dusty, dry landscape to verdant grasslands. The Central Kalahari Game Reserve is known to have the best cheetah viewing in Africa.
DAY #2 - Kalahari Desert, Botswana
Kalahari Plains Lodge consists of eight units, each include a sleep-out rooftop platform for the more adventurous clients. Kalahari Plains is all about the sounds of silence, starry night skies and unexpected wildlife encounters. Predators include the legendary black-maned Kalahari lions and feisty honey badgers.
DAY #3 - Kalahari Desert, Botswana
Craig’s secret safari shares a cultural element with the San Bushman which provides insights into a unique culture. Clients can interact with traditional San Bushmen in an authentic, interpretive activity.
The Kalahari Desert is the largest unbroken stretch of sand in the world and at its core is the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, a vast flat expanse of scrub-covered fossil dunes, interspersed with ancient river valleys. This has been the home of the San Bushmen for thousands of years.
DAY #4 - Kalahari Desert, Botswana
Day four of our Desert to Delta itinerary takes us via Maun, with Wilderness Air, to Seba in the Okavango Delta. Seba Lodge is set in a riverine forest and overlooks a perennial lagoon which has a resident buffalo and hippo pods.
DAY #5 - Kalahari Desert, Botswana
Seba Lodge is quintessentially Delta with diverse activities year round. Land-based in summer (game-drives and walking) and water-based in winter (mokoro, boating and fishing)
DAY #6 - Kalahari Desert, Botswana
Seba has excellent game-viewing with the added bonus of a seasonal hyena den close to the lodge. Guests are sometimes fortunate enough to spot hyena cubs; both exceptionally cute and “stinky”!
Seba is also our best lodge for families where you can introduce your children to Africa’s wildlife. Our Bush Buddy au pair will entertain and inspire children whilst at the lodge. Activities include a short walk around camp, identifying various water insects, frogs and birds. Painting with natural pigments from berries and roots, traditional basket weaving, baking with the chef, and fun pool activities will fill their day.
DAY #7 - Kalahari Desert, Botswana
You will fly from Seba to Toka Leya in Zambia via Kasane. Clients will be met by Wilderness Touring at Livingstone Airport and transferred to Toka Leya which is approximately 20 minutes from town.
Toka Leya is the perfect place to relax after your safari. It is the best safari-styled lodge in the area, situated on the banks of the Zambezi River.
DAY #8 - Kalahari Desert, Botswana
Toka Leya is the ideal combination of relaxation and adventure, with easy access to Victoria Falls and its adrenalin activities add excitement to this experience.
Toka Leya epitomes Wilderness Safaris 4 C’s ethos. Guests can partake in a back of house tour where they will learn about our waste-water recycling, worm farm, nursery and tree-planting project. Being an ideal family lodge, both adults and children can enjoy getting their hands dirty planting trees and also being part of this conservation effort.
DAY 9 - Kalahari Desert, Botswana
You can enjoy a therapeutic treatment at the spa before heading out to see a nearby rural village and Livingston town. This embodies Wilderness Safaris Culture and Community 4C’s by exposing guests to a different culture, way of life and historical diversity. Or, for the more adventurous client guest can visit Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park and experience a walk on the wild side with white rhino.
After this morning activity, clients will be transferred back to Livingston for their flight home.
