Description
A unique Food and Walking Tour in an adventurous landscape, accompanied by Storytelling as well as visit to Thingvellir National Park A walk in the beautiful surroundings in the vicinity of Laugarvatn where you listen to stories of history and myth, and get to taste the traditional foods from this beautiful valley, such as bread baked in geothermal heat. The fish from the lake, the lamb from the farm and the vegetables from the greenhouses are on the menu as well. This will be served on the 3-4 hour walking tour in spectacular landscape. This is an easy walk, even suitable for children from the age of 10. A bit of a climb, wading a small river, and a picnic in the sheep stall. Listen to the stories of the cave-dwelling people on the walk to the farm where they worked and visit a cave dwelling where, up until about 100 years ago, families actually lived. On the way back to the capitol we visit the most historic and honored place in Icelandic culture: Þingvellir (Thingvellir National Park), the site where Europe's oldest Parliament was founded. This is also where two tectonic plates meet so you can literally jump between Europe and America!
