DAY #1 - Johannesburg, South Africa Saxon Hotel, Villas & Spa
Before Botswana, you will arrive in Johannesburg
to spend one restful evening after your long journey to Africa. After a night of rest in the tasteful elegance of The Saxon, you will continue your journey into Botswana.
DAY #2 - Okavango Delta, Botswana Kujwana Camp
Arrive today at Kujwana Camp within the Okavango Delta. Your journey begins with an introductory presentation and orientation ride aboard your hand-selected steed. Six Meru tents with en-suite bathrooms comprise Kujwana Camp, which is set along the Xudum River and surrounded by forests of ancient trees. Meals are cooked fresh, with an emphasis on vegetables and salads, and guests enjoy fresh bread baked each day.
DAY #3 - Okavango Delta, Botswana Kujwana Camp
Your Okavango horse safari begins in the Xudum and Baobab areas, exploring the remote western region of Botswana’s Okavango Delta, an astonishing maze of papyrus-lined waterways, meadows, and woodland rich in birdlife and game. On horseback, you are on equal terms with the game, cantering with herds of wildebeest and zebra and sharing grazing spots with nearby families of giraffe and elephant.
DAY #4 - Okavango Delta, Botswana Kujwana Camp
Your Okavango horse safari begins in the Xudum and Baobab areas, exploring the remote western region of Botswana’s Okavango Delta, an astonishing maze of papyrus-lined waterways, meadows, and woodland rich in birdlife and game. On horseback, you are on equal terms with the game, cantering with herds of wildebeest and zebra and sharing grazing spots with nearby families of giraffe and elephant.
DAY #5 - Okavango Delta, Botswana Kujwana Camp
Continue your horseback adventures at Mokolwane Camp. Situated northwest of Kujwana on Matsebi River, Mokolwane’s five comfortable tree houses are lifted 10 feet above the ground to provide spectacular views across the waters. Surrounded by fig trees, jackalberrys, wild mangosteens, and ilala-palms, each lodge is charming in simplicity, with mosquito netted beds and en-suite bathrooms with showers, flush toilets, and hot and cold running water.
DAY #6 - Okavango Delta, Botswana Kujwana Camp
Throughout the horseback riding safari days, riders spend between four and six hours on horseback during the morning then spend the afternoons swimming, floating in a mokoro, walking, or on a traditional game drive. On the days that are spent riding all day, enjoy a picnic and siesta in the bush before riding back to camp for sundowners.
DAY #7 - Okavango Delta, Botswana Shinde
Conclude your Botswana adventures with three relaxing days at Shinde in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta. Nestled on a lush palm-dotted island at the edge of a lagoon, find just eight large safari-style tents with windows and modern en-suite bathrooms. Comfort and exclusivity best describe the accommodations at Shinde and the service of the staff is impeccable, courteous, and inviting.
DAY #8 - Okavango Delta, Botswana Shinde
Fill your days at your leisure enjoying morning, afternoon, and evening game drives, game walks, mokoros, motor boats, and excellent fishing in some of the most luxurious accommodations in the Delta. A senior guide will escort guests on private game activities: morning, afternoon and evening game drives, game walks, mokoros, motor boats and excellent fishing. The island is especially favored by members of the antelope family, including the sitatunga whose elongated splayed hooves enable it to walk on the unstable beds of reeds floating on the water.
DAY #9 - Okavango Delta, Botswana Shinde
Well-equipped delta craft may take you to see fascinating breeding colonies of herons, egrets, pelicans, and storks. Your guide will arrange bush walks to show you insects as well as a wide variety of bird life and game. Shinde’s abundant wildlife and the silent waters of the Okavango combine to make your stay a rare experience.
DAY #10 - Okavango Delta, Botswana Shinde
Today you depart for your return journey, with VIP services at the airport with your Ker & Downey guide.

We had an excellent experience with Olivia as our travel agent. She took the time to talk to us before booking to get an idea of our wants and needs. We did several countries and numerous cities on our trip; Olivia got it exactly right at every location! Every hotel, excursion and travel experience was exactly to our liking with above and beyond service and accommodations. We also ran into numerous barriers/changes with COVID19 while on our trip. Olivia kept an eye on restrictions for each location we were in, adjusted our trip/hotel/flights as needed in a way that felt effortless to us, but I'm sure was so much work on her end. We would book with her again and highly recommend her as personable, knowledgeable and hardworking.

The Wilderness Safari camps were excellent, each offering unique attributes. Staff at Qorokwe, Little Vumbura and Kings Pool were outstanding and service was The entire trip, once it happened (thanks to several reschedules) was very organized and thought through. When the original Galapagos operator cancelled late in the game, Ker & Downey quickly found us an alternative.
